PIP (Personal Independence Payments)
WNDiS will continue to support clients with applications and appeals for PIP, regardless of changes to assessments. The PM is no doubt aware that PIP is very hard to get, and is reassessed roughly every three years already.
We hope that the government’s research into PIP will be shared and that there will be more done to find out about the reasons for the increase in long term sickness, although long waits for medical treatment are no doubt part of the picture. We hope too, that there will be a genuine understanding of how important PIP is to those who receive it. For example, it can help autistic people to have more opportunities to develop their interests and, as a result, have more meaningful lives. It can help to reduce social isolation for many people with mental and physical health problems. Any changes to PIP will need to be measured, and mindful of the people it was designed to help.
